Shirleys Klient Professor Clifford Cabot wurde in flagranti mit einer Prostituierten erwischt und muss sich nun vor Gericht dafür verantworten. Er behauptet, lediglich Recherchen für seine aktuelle Studie betrieben zu haben, doch die Tatsache, dass die Prosituierte bei seiner Verhaftung nackt war und er ihr Liebesspiel auch noch mit seiner Videokamera aufgenommen hat, spricht dagegen, dass es sich hier um eine rein akademische Feldforschung handelt. Denise findet dennoch einen Weg, um Cabots Kopf aus der Schlinge zu ziehen, doch Marlene stiehlt ihre Idee und hinterlässt damit großen Eindruck bei Shirley. Wird nun nicht Denise, sondern Marlene die neue Partnerin in der Kanzlei?
Shirley once again helps Professor Cabot, whose research into human sexual behavior gets him into trouble when he's caught with a prostitute. Marlene and Denise continue their fight for the spot to become partner by trying to assist. Meanwhile, Denny takes Alan to LA when he pays a visit to the West Coast branch of Crane, Poole & Schmidt, but his motives become clear once Alan meets Barry Goal, and Brad is shocked to discover his niece is arrested for participating in a drug "pharming" party.
